Railroad ties lend raw, natural beauty to any landscaping project. Use them as functional elements, or for decorative accents in your yard or garden. They can be used in fences, corrals, chutes, steps, retaining walls, flower boxes, borders and walkways. They can also be used for construction applications instead of brick, cinder block, or synthetic materials, or in combination with other materials to create variety of attractive textures and designs. While railroad ties may not cost significantly less than brick or block per square foot, they only take about one-fourth the time to install, so labor costs are greatly reduced.
